Scope of EAM-Mosca Engineering Function:
The central focus and scope of the Engineering Department at EAM-Mosca is defined as late-stage, customer- and market-driven engineering (ETO).
Starting from base machinery and technology from Mosca GmbH, EAM-Mosca enhances or further configures a given machine (CTO) to meet the various needs of customers in the local Americas markets.
Examples include adding automated controls-based options, enabling communication with up- and down-stream equipment to systemize the machinery such as with conveyance and product motion devices.
Further customization includes configuring equipment with muting and safety barriers to meet the safety requirements of each geographic jurisdiction and customer.
This includes the responsibility for ensuring appropriate risk assessments are performed and regularly updated in accordance with all applicable laws and requirements for the markets we serve.
Additionally, the scope encompasses the engineering of complete strapping systems sold exclusively in the Americas region.
In these cases, EAM-Mosca develops and builds systems in the Americas utilizing the core ultrasonic sealing strapping head technology (SoniXs) developed and supplied by Mosca GmbH.
SoniXs technology is a key product differentiator for the entire Mosca Group on a global basis.
These compete strapping systems represent the performance benchmark for each product category and function.
By supporting production and assembly with accurate product definitions (BOM, drawings, schematics etc.
) the Director of Engineering supports the overall Operational Excellence of EAM-Mosca.
This product portfolio includes the families of unitizers, pallet strappers and squaring bundlers.
The global Mosca Group is interested in harmonization of product portfolio including global usage of EAM-Mosca solutions and development of common solutions for global usage.
The Director of Engineering is a core player for the achievement of an aligned product portfolio as well as manufacturing and operational synergies within the Group.
The Director of Engineering will work closely with other Mosca Group leaders to further develop the Mosca Group's global business.
Global R&D collaboration occurs through joint R&D projects based on shared technologies, modularization, and application-based solutions tailored to local market needs.
Success in global projects occurs by operating with vision and integrity to exceed customer and company expectations and requires mutual trust, respect, and open communication.

Reporting Structure and Region:
The Director of Engineering will lead an engineering team of 20
employees responsible for mechanical, electrical, automation, and documentation functions.
This position will report to the Executive Vice President & COO of EAM-Mosca Corp.
in the USA and will steer all EAM-Mosca Engineeringactivities as well as supporting the broader customer base of EAM-Mosca Corp.
throughout the Americas as necessary.
Within the global Mosca Group matrix organization, this position is a functional part of the global engineering division including development of general and technical guidelines for the Group.
Core
Responsibilities:
Lead an engineering team of 20
employees responsible for mechanical, electrical, automation, and documentation functions.
Optimize global and local processes and structure by driving an efficient and holistic approach to project management, including the implementation of stage gate innovation management and the definition of best practices.
Align engineering projects with company goals and objectives, provide high level guidance and support, and maintain positive and constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate, coordinate and actively participate directly with global intercompany teams as well as with customers and suppliers.
Ensure delivery of the core scope of local engineering projects focused on time-sensitive, customer-driven, late-stage customization.
This represents the majority of the department's core tasks and responsibilities.
Close collaboration with the commercial team to ensure product commercial viability.
Provide technical support to field service, operations and commercial teams.
With product management and commercial regularly evaluate improvement and optimization of the local product portfolio.
With the commercial team identify and distill key market trends to lead development of new products and custom engineered-to-order projects to develop new markets.
The Director of Engineering will contribute to the global product roadmap ensuring the representation and focus on local market needs with the goal of reaching modularity and a CTO approach to customer orders.
Risk assessment and machine safety for the Americas markets ensuring conformity with all applicable laws, requirements and certifications Support the quality management system by implementation and regular review of engineering processes.
Collaborate and coordinate with global engineering teams to achieve the shared vision by pursuing the highest quality and performance as well as safe and sustainable solutions in end-of-line packaging technology for the industries we serve.
Keep abreast of cutting-edge technological and software developments to remain up-to-date on industry trends for their practical implementation.
Grow the Engineering team through a culture of mentorship, open communication, constructive feedback, and accountability in addition to onboarding new personnel.
Develop and implement KPIs to guide the full engineering function, ensuring alignment with company and Group goals.
Utilize a NPD (new-product-development) stage gate process with focus on product-market fit and economic product development (ROI).
Support a groupwide ERP harmonization initiative in conjunction with PDM harmonization for the global engineering network, Profile and Background:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role with a machinery manufacturer, ideally in the packaging industry or an industry with a high degree of automation.
Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) or relevant technical degree with interest/experience in mechatronic systems.
Hands-on, action-based approach to problem-solving and understanding customer needs to drive product development and optimization.
Preferred experience in identifying, describing, and documenting unmet customer needs as part of user requirement specifications.
Experience with the application of stage gate and/or other similar innovation management processes with a business transitioning from an entrepreneurial culture.
Experience related to design option sorting and design for manufacturing (DFM) inclusive of cost and benefit analysis with focus on driving customer value.
Experience with implementation of new software systems, IT, CAx and PDM.
Knowledge about global PLM processes.
Exhibit exemplary leadership, communication and project management skills, as well as embody a strong belief in developing the skills and talents of team members.
Ability to act in a global matrix organization, focused on creating value for the entire organization.
